As ambassadors, girls will receive a free, downloadable tool kit filled with fun and actionable tips, ideas forfund-raising, volunteering, or donating to the four worthy charities participating in Shine OnNow. I will be donating ($1,000 dollars/stars) to a charity.

*I would like my readers to send in pictures of how their family impacts the local community through community service, volunteering, etc. for a chance to win a My American Girl doll! Please only enter one time, per family.

Update: Here is Darcie who sent in this email. Very uplifting:

My family and I are actively involved in raising awareness for breast
cancer, particularly among young women. I was diagnosed in 2008 at the
age of 30. I have a 9 year old daughter and we dedicate a lot of time
working and participating in different events. This past year we
helped with the Michigan Tour de Pink, Komen Race for the Cure, Pink
it Up Detroit, various activities for the Young Survival Coalition.
Thank you for the chance.
Sincerely,
Darcie

Second entry:

My 8-year old, Hannah, has always participated in community events and fundraisers. Recently, she spear-headed her very own blanket drive for Haiti following the tragic earthquake earlier this year.

I helped her design a website and she went around her school and to 6 other schools in our district to share her blanket drive. The county, Forsyth County, was so moved by her efforts, their marketing dept set up an interview with 11 Alive, which was also featured on NBC Nightly News.

Together with the National PTA, Hannah raised over 2500 blankets and sleeping bags (on final count) that were donated to Hosea Feeds the Hungry for transport to Haiti.

I am so proud of my little girl. She is an inspiration to me and reminds of the quote, “Be the change you want to see in the world”.

Please consider my Hannah for the American Girl prize.

Thank you,

Share It!
