Blogging Tips: Other Bloggers Asking For Advice - Talking With Tami

Blogging Tips: Other Bloggers Asking For Advice

June 8th, 2012

I get flooded with emails asking me, “hey can you check out my site, can you tell me what I’m doing wrong with my blog, how can I gain more readers?” I’m not trying to be mean at all, but this is my full time career. I can NOT call you up on your job and ask you for advice on what you do, so I expect the same respect lol. So I always email people back and say that I charge a consultation fee for my opinion about your site.

Some may think or say, well you should share the wealth but that is why I post “blogging tips” for you guys. To go into depth about your blog site takes time, energy, creative input and more.To share my expertise on blogging comes with a price, so sorry to say. I hope I’m not coming off as too bitchy but it’s starting to become overwhelming with the emails I receive daily. I know bloggers that won’t even respond back to you,I try to atleast lol. I’m not in competition with anyone and everyone blogging style is different but it is a business. So as your blog grows, remember that it’s solely up to you if you want to share information, contacts, advice and more with your readers but also remember that as your site gets bigger, it is a “business” too. Till next time! xoxo

Tam Tam-As you said it is a business so you should expect to be paid a fee for consulting. Do your thing lady!! I love your site and think you are doing wonderful job.

Exactly!!! With everything comes a fee. I was fortunate enough to have a great friend show me the ropes because she was trying to start a consultation business, so I was pretty much her guinea pig and I’m so thankful for that! But like my mom says: “Ain’t nothing free, but the air you breathe and they charge you for that at the hospital.” So, with that being said everything comes with a price.. Plus I mean, time is money, right? So you gotta pay for my expertise :) LOVE this post…!!!

I’m so glad you wrote this. It really is too much to write back everyone who emails me with questions. Blogging is one of those things you just need to dive into, listen and learn. There are lots of online courses offered (I just co-facilitated one a couple months back) where folks can learn the ropes…. but doling out countless advice for free is simply not an option.

This post is right on time too, cuz I just got a nasty tweet from someone who apparently had emailed me asking for some advice and was pissed that I wasnt able to give them what they wanted. Sigh. If I could do it all I would, but unfortunately thats just not possible.

  9. Im not sure if people think lights and air and toilet paper just pops out of thin air, but those things have to be purchased with money.

Money comes by way of working (or a favor).

It baffles me how people desire…free service.
