Congrats To Dom Streater, First African-American To Win Project Runway!

I can’t believe it! After 12 seasons of watching, Project Runway have finally picked an African American winner!  Contestant Dom Streater took the title after she blew the judges away with her “Retro Redux” collection. She described her work as, “future as it was viewed by artists and writers, pre-1960s.”

The 24-year-old from Philadelphia was overjoyed and extremely humbled about winning.“It’s a huge deal for me. I’m poor. I mean I’m working two jobs, people.”

Her prizes for winning the competition includes a 2014 Lexus IS 350, $150,000 cash wow!  A chance to design and sell an exclusive collection at Belk, a fashion spread in Marie Clairemagazine, a $100,000 fabric allowance from Tide Pods, plus a $50,000 styling contract with L’Oréal Paris. Congrats to you chica!

Sidenote: Atlanta’s own Mychael Knight and Korto Momolu will be part of Project Runway All Stars hosted by Alyssa Milano with rocker Debbie Harry of Blondie as a guest judge. Project Runway All Stars airs this Thursday at 9pm on Lifetime, will you be tuned in?
