Congrats are in order for beauty queen Courtney Pearson! She is the first ever African-American Homecoming Queen at the University of Mississippi! She’s a senior studying secondary English education. She was quoted as saying “I am still in shock, but I am definitely very excited,”. This particular university did not admit African-American students until 50 years ago,wow!
