TalkingWithTami:  How long have DogtownDog been in business? What made you want to start this Co.?

Dogtown Dogs has been in business for 1 month.  I wanted to start this company after I moved to Sant Monica from New York city.  I’ve always loved Hot Dogs, and after watching every other comfort food get dressed up (Truffle Mac and Cheese, Kobe Burgers.), I wanted to do the same things with Hot Dogs.

TalkingWithTami: Mobile restaurants seem to be all the craze! What makes yours stand out?

The Mobile food movement has come at a perfect time for this idea.  People associate Hot Dogs with the vending cart or catering truck.  Like theTaco it’s the ultimate street food.  With a truck and a food product that have both been refined a little bit, we’re definately turning some heads.

TalkingWithTami: By you guys meeting new customers all the time, do you have any great road stories?

As far as good road stories…Everyday we have some unique experience you wouldn’t think you’ld encounter.  We were in Venice by the beach, and if you’ve been to Venice you’ld know anything could happen. We had a man dressed in robes approach us, he ordered two Dogtown Dogs (hot dog topped with Fennel slaw and roasted red peppers). He told us that the truck gave off a good energy and as people approached he gave them all free fortune readings.

TalkingWithTami: Before you started your company, what were you doing previously?

Before starting the company I served as the General Manager of Ma’Kai Lounge in Santa Monica.

TalkingWithTami: Give us some of your fav things on the menu and what’s your top selling dog?

I love the whole menu! We tried hundreds of Dogs and variations of the ones we have now. My favorite is the Dogtown Dog: All Beef Snap Dog, topped with our fennel slaw, roasted red peppers, and dijon mustard. Our top sellers are the California Dog: All beef Snap Dog dressed with basil aioli, avocado, tomatoes, arugula, and topped with fried onions. And the Trailer Trash: All beef snap dog topped with, our homemade chili, cheese sauce and crumbled fritos.
