IIDA’S Dressed in the Garden of Eden

May 13th, 2011

Atlanta Botanical Gardens never looked so fashionable last night as guests got to ooh and awh at one of a kind designs that strutted down the runway. IIDA Georgia Chapter’s has an annual event where they smoosh together Atlanta’s most talented interior designers & architects with architectural and design industry manufactures and the magic begins! Teams of 2 to 5 designers have an experience sorta like you would see on Project Runway where they are challenged to construct a very unique wearable piece out of non traditional materials.

They have to put together outfits from their sponsors manufacturing products with items like wallcovering, flooring materials, paint etc…you guys get the point. Most of the every day household items that are used to create buildings were used, how fab is that! There was a lot of creativity and the theme was “Dressed in the Garden of Eden”.

The Judges

Fahionable Chicas!

Apollo & Phaedra Parks, Sheree Whitfield, Lawrence

When I arrived at the event there was a cocktail hour in the V.I.P. section where we could preview Caliber Enterprises models dressed in all white modeling fashions with nice accessories. Mini bites were served as well as Barefoot Wine. Shortly afterwards the crowd moved to the rose garden outside where rows and rows of white lawn chairs were set up. Everything looked gorgeous visually.

The event was hosted by Atlanta’s Housewife, Cynthia Bailey and she looked extra posh in her Zang Toi gown. Chair Derek Jayson Rusch & ┬áCo Chair Marcus Jackson welcomed everyone. They introduced the judges which were Cheryl S.Durst,David Goodrowe,Juan Hernandez,Jonathan Shapero, Stephanie Davis,Chris C. Van Duyne,Jill Vantosh, and Dr. Walter Fuller Young.

The fashion show began and we were all excited to see the designs which were formal and ready to wear. I loved so many of the designs but there could only be one winner who would receive $1,ooo.00 and an all expense paid trip to an island. That went to The Design Atelier/Maharam. The dress was fantastic with constructed rosebuds all over it,congrats to them! I would like to thank IIDA for the invite it was a Pinktastic affair!
