I got word that Lauren Conrad (reality star from The Hills) had a new book out titled, Style. This peaked my interest because I loved how she looked on the cover.I contacted my good friends over at Harper’s Collins,who published the book and they sent me a copy right away.
When I opened the package, I loved how the layout was! The size of the book is perfect for a coffee table and the back of it is shimmery pink, I love! This book is very well put together and I knew it was going to be a page turner! I try to read a book a week to keep my brain fresh and this book did just that. First off, I LOVE fashion and I love vintage. She touches on all of that, so let’s get started!
This book covers Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle broken down into 11 chapters.
Fashion
Chap 1: Building your wardrobe Here Lauren talks about key items to have in your wardrobe.
Chap 2: The All American Uniform: Jeans and T-shirts Lauren talks about finding the perfect pair of jeans, comfy tees,layering etc…
Chap 3: The Hunt: How to Shop This talks about places to shop, Dept stores,chain stores,vintage shopping(my fav part)deals and shopping online.
Chap 4: Mastering Your Closet She shows you how to edit your closet, organization, folding different fabrics, care for clothing.
Chap 5: Accessories She tackles shoes, necklaces, purses,mix and matching,mixing jewelry,how to wear scarfs,earrings(fake and real). This section was fun and girly!
Chap 6 Getting Dressed: The fun part This chapter showed you how to put together different looks for day,night,at work or lounging around on the weekend. She also shows you how to mix patterns and what looks good on different figures.
Beauty
Chap 7: Makeup This was fun, Lauren showed you face charts of different ways to wear daytime makeup and night time looks. How to make wear smokey eyes,lipstick and more! She even tackles eyelashes!
Chap 8: Hair In this chapter she shows you funky styles and how to wear hair accessories, too fun! She also shows you step by step home blow outs and styling techniques.
Lifestyle
Chap 9: Work and School She shows you how to look for an interview and how to dress for a job. She shows you party attire and school looks.
Chap 10: Travel Here she shows you how to pack, whats needed and different luggage.
Chap 11: Events and Parties This was my fav section since I cover a lot of red carpet events and galas. She shows you complete foolproof outfits that work on and off the carpet. She shows you also how to dress from an invite you get! This was a great chapter!
The books has soo many good facets to it,great photos of her in different looks and lots of great information. I learned so much from reading her style book and will be referencing it from time to time. She seems very warm and inviting and she did an amazing job of putting this book together!
