THE WORLD’S LARGEST DINNER PARTY -DÎNER EN BLANC – ARRIVES IN ATLANTA

Thousands Expected to Attend Atlanta’s First Ever Dîner en Blanc on October 16

From global phenomenon to highly sought after “secret,” Dîner en Blanc will take over a landmark public space in Atlanta for the first time this fall on October 16, 2014. Imported from Paris, this très chic picnic is equal parts mystery tour, pop-up feast and je ne sais quoi, and is the must- attend epicurean phenomenon for food lovers around the world.

Launched in France in 1988, Dîner en Blanc is the world’s first viral event that today attracts more than 15,000 people. In recent years, Dîner en Blanc has exploded in popularity, this year expanding to more than 50 cities across five continents, from Paris to Sydney to Hong Kong to Jerusalem to New York and Los Angeles.

To preserve spontaneity and secrecy, the elegant pop-up picnic takes over landmark public spaces in cities around the country, whose locations are revealed at the last minute to the delight of thousands of attendees. It’s a magical moment in time — from different points throughout each city thousands dressed in white arrive at the same moment, at the same place. People bring their own food to share with friends, often spending weeks designing menus and preparing some of the most sumptuous and creative repasts imaginable. Dîner en Blanc has also become a popular venue for people to exhibit their unique fashion style, showcase their taste for design and share their gastronomic delights.

Beyond the spectacle and refined elegance of the dinner itself, guests are brought together from diverse backgrounds by a love of beauty and good taste. “Atlanta’s culture is a reflection of Dîner en Blanc’s core values,” say co-founders Sandy Safi, Director of Partnership, and Aymeric Pasquier, Executive Director, Dîner en Blanc International. “We feel that this first edition will be a true success in bringing Atlantans together and highlighting the beauty of their city.”

This year, guests will toast the evening with champagne dressed for the occasion. Moët Ice Impérial, fitted in a striking white bottle, will be the official champagne of Dîner en Blanc in Atlanta and across four other cities on the East Coast. The world’s first-ever champagne created to be enjoyed over ice, Moët Ice Impérial breaks the tradition of champagne – in style. Served in large white goblets, Moët Ice Imperial’s crisp freshness and tropical fruit aromas are a perfect pairing for the warm Dîner En Blanc evenings.

Moët & Chandon will also help guests remember and share their memories with friends from a photo booth at each of the events. Moët will invite guests to take selfies using playful photo frames, and share these “Toastagrams” via their social media channels.

True to tradition, bystanders will witness groups of 100 to 300 people gather at specific rallying points across each city. Guided by local volunteers, these groups will then converge on one of the most beautiful outdoor settings in a public space, either on foot or by other organized means of transportation. Guests are asked to dress elegantly in white from head to toe, bring their own picnics, tables, chairs, fine china, silverware, and white tablecloth. Over the course of the evening, the diners eat and celebrate amid live music, dancing, complete with festive white balloons. Special moments include the waving of thousands of cloth napkins to mark the beginning of the dinner, as well as the lighting of sparklers to let participants know they are now free to circulate, mingle and dance. When the trumpet call sounds the end of the evening, guests pack up their crystal, dinnerware and tables, pick up all their litter and head into the night, leaving behind no sign of their elegant revelry.

Each Dîner en Blanc event is headed by passionate local organizers who fall in love with the concept and want to bring the magic to their city, giving this special rendez-vous a local flair. Registration to the general public opens Friday, October 3rd and those interested in joining Dîner en Blanc’s guests in Atlanta are encouraged to sign up quickly to the waiting-list by accessing the website atlanta.dinerenblanc.info/ register as space is limited.

About Dîner en Blanc
The worldwide phenomenon known as Dîner en Blanc® will celebrate its 26th anniversary this year! Launched by François Pasquier and a handful of friends in 1988, the Paris Dîner en Blanc now attracts more than 10,000 people each year. What began as a “friends and word-of-mouth only” event has grown into an international epicurean phenomenon on five continents. While the technology behind the event may have changed over the years, the principles fuelling this fantastic event have not: diners continue to gather at a secret location for the sole purpose of sharing a high-quality meal with good friends in one of their city’s most beautiful locations. Dîner en Blanc International, based in Montreal, is responsible for developing this secret posh picnic in over 50 cities by the end of 2014. Each event is headed by passionate local organizers who fell in love with the concept and wanted to bring it to their city, giving this rendezvous a local flair.
