I was looking at some of my photos in my archives and all I can say is…WOW! Those of you that have been an avid reader of the blog, know I have come a long way as far as my makeup and hair looks, YIKES! I always say though, when you know better, you do better lol. As a young girl, I was always fascinated with anything beauty. From nail polish to cosmetics. My mom was my first inspiration because she loved hair and makeup as much as I did. I would sit on the bathroom vanity and watch her do her hair & makeup. I would hand her makeup brushes and tell her how pretty she was. I always thought my mom was beautiful and she still is. That was our bonding time. Now it is like deja vu with my own daughter. When Dootie was small, she would watch me when I would “attempt” to do my hair and makeup too lol. Now my own child is in beauty school and I must say, she is really, really good!
I never would have thought in a million years that Dootie would have an interest in the beauty field but she has been around it for years because of me and her god mom who’s a hairstylist. I guess it was a given lol. I will never forget the day she came out of her room and headed towards me with a beat face and hair done. I was a bit taken back and asked her, “who did your makeup and hair? I know I didn’t give you any money!” She laughed and said, “mom, I’ve been watching youtube videos, thats how I learned”. That was two years ago and now look at my baby, she has blossomed.
I will say though, I am a creature of habit and shy away from too many loud colors and crazy hairdos like my daughter wears lol. I’m a bit more conservative in that area. I wear my hair either curled or straight, yeah, its a bit boring. I need to venture out a bit more but I’m taking baby steps lol. I may try color this year or maybe bangs, who knows. People always ask me why I haven’t dyed my hair yet to cover my grey but I really want it to come in naturally. I think grey hair is so pretty and its a sign of maturity. It doesn’t bother me at all.
Thanks to all the hair & beauty brands that I’ve worked with over the years. Especially to my longtime beauty brands M.A.C. Cosmetics & OPI. I’ve been working with them for over 8 years now, wow! Since IG launched, I’ve picked up a few more beauty brands like Nars, Urban Decay, It Cosmetics and many more.
I also wanted to mention my neighbor Alex Bonds, who has been my crazy friend and my personal makeup artist. I first met her a few years ago at Mall of Ga at the M.A.C counter inside Nordstrom department store. I would always go there to get my makeup done for special events and we would chat about what I was up to. She was the manager there and we hit it off and became fast friends. We are like family now and she has taught me and Dootie so much about the beauty industry and makeup application, love you Alex! She is now working with YSL Beauty and loves her new position. So anyway, I put together a few of my favorite makeup looks from 2015, I hope you enjoy! xoxo
If I had to pick a signature look, it would be this nude look.
I love a berry shade of lipstick!
I got a chance to work with The Virgin Hair Fantasy as a brand ambassador this year, so fun. xoxo
I also worked with Eye For Design Hair as a brand ambassador too. Love you guys! xoxo
I even did a Creme of Nature campaign & giveaway, so cool!
