Pink Spotlight: Makeup Artist Bee Wade

bee-4

Good morning everyone, the weekend went by so fast! It was pretty relaxing for me and I hope you had fun! I had the pleasure of running into makeup artist Bee Wade at an event and I complimented her on her makeup. I then told her I would love to interview her for my blog. I’ve seen her out a few times and each run-in her face has been flawless. I thought for all my makeup junkies out there or inspiring ones, that it would be a good idea for Bee to share with us her favorite makeup brands, how she got started in the beauty biz and more! Check it all out inside!

You seem to love what you do, how did you start your career in the makeup business?

Being apart of the beauty industry was never something I dreamed of as a kid, or as an adult. My friends can attest to the fact that I never wore anything outside of brown and pink eye shadow with clear lip gloss. I was introduced to the idea of becoming a makeup artist when my husband first picked up photography back in 2011. I joined him to meet with a client only to observe, yet somehow found myself doing her makeup in her restroom. Even though I didn’t know what I was doing, my background in painting & knowledge of color helped me execute it well enough for her to cry when she saw herself. In that moment, a light came on! I told myself that I was going to pursue it, and so, I did. During that time I also had my first child. Leaving me with more free time than I knew what to do with. So I took that time at home while my baby slept to learn all I could about makeup. A complete and in depth answer to this question can be found in my blog post, “For The Dreamers.”

What colors are you loving for Summer time fun!

This summer I’m loving “Dangerous” (Bright Orange) Lipstick by MAC and my Taj Mahal (Burnt Orange) Nars blush. Orange, Peach, and Coral colors are so beautiful on women of color. At first it may seem drastic staring at it, its like the color is screaming at you. But when applied to our skin, magic happens.

Which celebrity would you love to work with and why?

I would absolutely love to work with Miss Jill Scott. She’s my favorite singer/ song writer, poet, plus diva….the list goes on. Though I haven’t had the chance to meet her (yet) to know, her skin looks amazing! She also has beautiful cheeks framing her smile that I’d have a field day contouring. Oh, it would be a dream! Anyone out there who can make this dream a reality, feel free to contact me. Lol

Tell us makeup junkies what are some of your favorite brands and what do you use daily?

First, we know the secret to a flawless face is well maintained skin. I moisturize and wash my face with Me and the Girls Beleza Multi- Use Beauty Bar. I use it everyday and I can not live without it. As far as makeup, drug store to department store, my love for them are the same. Wet n’ Wild (drug store) I love for their eyeshadows, lipsticks and price. MAC I love for their foundations and concealers. My MAC foundation of choice is Studio Fix Fluid and concealer of choice would be Studio Finish. I love Nars for their blush and bronzers. This can easily be the longest answer so I’m going to stop while I’m ahead.

You’re going to be on a deserted island for a week for a reality show/competition, what is one beauty item that you have to have with you?

Hands down my Me and the Girls” Beleza Multi- Use Beauty Bar. This beauty bar is a 3-in-1 makeup remover, face wash and moisturizer. I remember the first the time I used it, my skin never felt and looked so smoothed. If you have medium to severely dry skin, I highly suggest this product. Its a little pricey, but its worth every penny. Thanks to my beauty insider at Essence.com for passing along to me this gem!
