Pinktastic Saturday: Pink Chicken - Talking With Tami

Pinktastic Saturday: Pink Chicken

April 7th, 2012

It’s Saturday already can you guys believe it? I had a great fashion line contact me and when I saw the name Pink Chicken I had to inquire lol. The owner name is Stacey Fraser and she makes the most comfortable and unique clothing items and  has an adorable store in NYC! I was able to catch up with her and ask her a few questions for my site. She also sent me their popular pink ava top that I wore out to lunch with my son. It’s a very classic piece that you can pair with so many things. I wore a pair of seersucker striped shorts and flats with matching pink hat. This definitely makes for a fab Pinktastic Saturday story! Enjoy the interview below! xoxo

What inspires you when you design your clothing?

We always start with fabric. We have stacks and stacks of vintage textiles I’ve collected over the years that inspire the start of a season. I love playing around with new or interesting color combinations. I’m always inspired when I’m away on vacation with the kids. We usually go to Mexico, but this year we’re going to Costa Rica!
- How do you juggle family and owning a business?
Very carefully. Every working mother knows finding the perfect balance between work and home is nearly impossible, but having my own business does give me the flexibility to take my kids to school every day and be there for the important dance recitals and hockey games. Also, building a great team here has allowed me to relax a little bit and grab a spin class in the morning when I can.
- How did you come up with the name of the company, Pink Chicken?
My husband and I were brainstorming names for the brand, and we wanted something that was fun, meant something to us, and was quirky and brandable. He suggested Pink Chicken because that was what we always called chicken to bribe our daughter into eating it – “Look Belle, it’s pink chicken.” It always worked, and somehow it just fit.
- What type of woman wears your clothing?
Our clothes are no-fuss and always stylish, which fits into every mother’s lifestyle. We are expanding the line now to cover a wider age range. Stay tuned!
- What’s next for Pink Chicken?
We just opened our first store in New York City and gave our website a makeover. Next up, we’re expanding the tween and women’s lines since we’ve seen great response from our customers in those areas, and we’re putting the finishing touches on revamping our store in the Hamptons. If you’re in the area, stop by this summer for a visit!
