Pirates Of The Caribbean Movie Review

Don’t throw rocks at me but I had never watched any of the previous Pirates of the Caribbean movies, I know, I know don’t kill me lol. But I am really trying to come out of my comfort zone and try new things, so I accepted the invitation when I was asked to attend the Disney press junket and premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man Tell No Tales. It was so out of my norm but I really got into this film, the characters and the storyline. Watching this latest sequel gave me a whole different perspective and to think, Pirates did and still do exist till this day!

This movie had a love story, many funny and scary parts and dealt with betrayal, loyalty, family, curiosity and more! I really was drawn to Actress Kaya Scodelarios’ character Carina Smyth because she plays an Astronomer who’s on a quest to find her father. I never knew my father growing up, so I could relate to her. There aren’t that many women in the film, so she really stood out in each of her performances on screen. If you plan on taking your family to see this movie, I would make sure they were 10 and up, it has some really gruesome scenes that might frighten kids. Other than that, it’s WELL worth the money and your time!

Favorite Scene: Although my heart was pounding a mile a minute, I couldn’t unglue my eyeballs from the screen when Captain Salazar(Javier Bardem) made his appearances each and every time! He is a VERY frightening character indeed! My favorite scene was when Captain Salazar was running through the water to land, I almost passed out!

Favorite Character: Jack Sparrow who is Captain of the Black Pearl and legendary pirate of the Seven Seas, Captain Jack Sparrow is the irreverent trickster of the sea. I loved his carefree personality and enjoyed watching him on film. He definitely made me laugh a few times. Jack always seemed to out trick the others who had no clue they were being swindled, he was hilarious.

Cinematography: It was shot beautifully with a lot of computer generated imagery, everything looked so real! I really enjoyed the beautiful scenery, backdrops, special effects and more!

Costumes: My favorite part of any film! The costumes really helped tell the tale of the movie and with each look, it gave each character more life! I was very impressed with the styling of Captain Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush).

Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales in theaters May 26th

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.
