Daytime talk show host Queen Latifah graces the cover of ESSENCE magazine’s November 2014 career issue. Doesn’t she look lovely?

Over the years, Queen has accomplished many feats including being a talented rapper/singer, an actress, CEO of her own production company and now as a TV host with her own show. So how does she do it all? She said, “I’m one of those people who has to stretch, or I get bored—and I’m easily bored.”

The 44-year-old entrepreneur has been busy working with BET to produce new original programming for the Centric channel through her Flavor Unit entertainment company which targets black women. Centric plans to bring back “Living Single” and play re-runs of “The Queen Latifah Show”

She plans on taking her talk show in a new exciting direction for its second season saying, “I want it to be a hit on my terms.”

Queen is also gearing up for her return to the big screen. She has been tapped to portray 1920’s Blues singer Bessie Smith in an upcoming HBO biopic. She dished on her new role saying,

“She influenced rock and roll, with an effect on everybody from Mick Jagger to Janis Joplin. She was the first Black performer to appear before an integrated audience. She chased away Ku Klux Klansmen when they tried to to set fire to a tent where she was performing.”
