Recipe: Creamy Red Beans And Rice

Hello my lovelies, hope you are doing well! The other day my boyfriend put in a special request and asked me if I knew how to make red beans and rice. I hadn’t particularly made this recipe in quite sometime but I was up for the challenge. As soon as I could, I went online and looked up a few recipes but my friend Paras makes them all the time and he told me that his friend had an amazing recipe. I went on The Gurley Chef instagram page and she gave step by step instructions on how to cook the iconic meal.

I went to the grocery store and tweaked the recipe just a bit to my liking and got out the big ol pot and started cooking. I must say the recipe was amazing, not confusing and so good! Ingredients: 

Chicken Broth

Smoked Turkey Wings

Turkey Kielbasa

2 bags of Red Beans

Rice

Thyme

Season Blend Vegetables

Onion

Garlic

Butter

Seasonings: Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, Season Salt, Creole Seasoning, Onion Powder

I first started by washing and soaking my red beans overnight. This reduces the cooking time. After that, I rinsed the smoked turkey wings then I added a whole carton of Chicken Broth to a big pot plus ALL the ingredients like seasonings, vegetables, garlic etc. After that, I poured in the red beans and meat. In another skillet I cooked the kielbasa’s sausage and added that as well.

Brought it all to a boil and then reduced the heat to simmer, add thyme on top. Do not keep opening the pot, just let it simmer for at least over 1 to 2 hrs. But keep checking, stirring and taste. If it needs any additional seasoning add that. After it was done, I made a side of rice and fried catfish. This was a great dinner, so good!
