This fall, the Greenleaf family will fight for what is theirs. Will they be able to take their church back? Don’t miss the Season 4 premiere of ‘Greenleaf’ on Tuesday, September 3, at 10/9c—only on OWN. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Actors, Lynn Whitfield, Deborah Joy Winans, Desiree Ross and Merle Dandridge yesterday evening and chat with the ladies about the new season, their characters growth, memorable lines, fashion and more! Check out what they had to say inside, boy was it juicy! Also don’t forget to tune in next week, it’s so full of drama, omg lol.
Actors Lynn Whitfield, Deborah Joy Winans, Desiree Ross, Merle Dandridge
Lynn’s characters wardrobe this season:
Lynn said Lady Mae is pretty subtle this season since she is at home more, they’ve lost the church. But she said she is tired of wearing the mumus lol.
Most Memorable lines of Greenleaf:
Desiree said the most memorable line for her: When Bishop said, “Such a powerful performance”.
Lynn said hers was: “I’d rather eat glass”.
What are you most proud of with your character?
Lynn: How Lady Mae is running things as a wife, she has a real calling on her life, especially from where she started. Evolution that they would lose their church even temporarily, that was never a thought. It really went to the wall.
Merle: I love Grace’s growth, her handling things not so great. I love her humanity. Plus she stands up for herself.
Greenleaf Season 4 airs September 3rd 10/9c
Season 4 finds the Greenleafs attempting to maintain a united front in the face of losing Calvary to Bob Whitmore (Beau Bridges) and Harmony & Hope Ministries. But secrets past and present create what could be fatal fractures in the family’s fragile foundation. Lady Mae (Lynn Whitfield) and Grace (Merle Dandridge) form an uneasy alliance as they endeavor to reclaim their church from Harmony & Hope: Grace from within the church, where she’s operating as interim head pastor, and Lady Mae using her persuasive ways from the outside. But Grace’s mission becomes complicated when a mysterious phone call sets in motion a chain of events that threatens to reveal her biggest secret yet. The Bishop (Keith David) continues working to mend his rift with his wife Lady Mae, while Harmony & Hope’s grip on Calvary tightens day by day.
