THE REAL Welcomes Fantasia, L&HH:NY’s Yandy Smith-Harris, And Guest Co-Host Rachel Lindsay!

On Tuesday, Dec. 3, The Real welcomes guest co-host, former Bachelorette and host of the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast Rachel Lindsay!

If you’re into fitness and your guy buys you a luxury exercise bike, would you find that a considerate gift? Co-host Jeannie Mai has some thoughts.

And The Real’s Love & Hip Hop: NY Week continues with Yandy Smith-Harris, who talks about how she has managed during the five years her husband Mendecees Harris has been in prison, and what she would change on the show she once worked as a producer on.

Then Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Fantasia visits The Real to discuss her new album Sketchbook. She has a lot to say about love, the energy you put out into the world, why she decided to release her album independently and the one thing in her life she would “do over.”

Fantasia On The Energy You Put Out In the World, And Her New Album Sketchbook

Adrienne Houghton: You got a new love in your life! Is that what you’re singing about now?

Fantasia: Yeah, gimme some…there we go!

Adrienne: OK, is that what you’re singing out now?

Fantasia: Yes. Love. You know what so crazy, I had a girl ask me in an interview one time, “We like to hear you sing, ‘Free Yourself,’ and ‘Bittersweet.’ And you know, what are you gonna do now?” and I said, “Well, are you in a relationship?” and she says, “No, girl, but I’m looking.” I said, “Well, if you keep singing ‘Free Yourself’ and ‘Bittersweet’ you’ll never find it.”

Adrienne: Wow!

Fantasia: You’ll never find it!

Loni Love: Yep.

Fantasia: So you have to – energy – you have to, you have to put good things out there, you have to speak life, you have to say what you want, so I’m free!

Tamera Mowry-Housley: Speak it!

Fantasia: Now I got me – you see?

Tamera: Yes!

Adrienne: Yes!

Rachel Lindsay: We’re excited about your new album – Sketchbook

Rachel: Which is the first album you put out independently, yourself. So what it is that makes this album different?

Fantasia: It’s independent, so that means I was able to do what I wanted to do.

Fantasia: No shade to the labels, no shade to the labels! But a lot of times when you’re gifted, people will prostitute your gift, meaning they will tell you what to sing, how to sing it, and so…

Tamera: You are speaking today!

Rachel: Yes you are!

Fantasia: So I have been through – after going through what I have went through, I just figured, I’m not going to allow anybody to tell me – He’s the gift-giver, He gave me the gift, I know how I want to do it, so I’m going to do it independently.
