TWT TEA: Comedian 'Cedric The Entertainer' - Talking With Tami

TWT TEA: Comedian ‘Cedric The Entertainer’

October 22nd, 2012

I remember meeting comedian Cedric the Entertainer many years ago. He has always been very positive, full of life and ofcourse funny when I would see him! I have said in the past that most comedians that I’ve met are really not that nice in person and they are usually very difficult to interview because they are either hot or cold. Cedric is one of the few ones who’s really genuine and never funny acting. I was invited out to a town hall meeting yesterday at Fox Theatre where celebrities talked about their dreams and how they went for theirs. The event was put on by American Family Insurance. Listening to Cedric’s story,  I never knew that he worked for State Farm Insurance. Early on his mom instilled in him that education was key, being that she was an educator herself. He graduated from college and worked for corporate and did stand up at night. When he felt confidant enough, he eventually quit his job at State Farm and did comedy full time. He said it was rough in the beginning but he kept at it. Sometimes he would not even get paid, all they had to offer was wings and drinks, he did the gigs anyway because he loved it.

Now look at him, he has his own production company and has a new tv show on the Tv Land network called, Soul Man. I got to chat with Cedric backstage and asked what we can expect from the Soul Train Awards this year since they moved it to Las Vegas and he said it was going to be full of surprises! He thinks Centrics moved it to Vegas to get more celebs to come out since L.A. is not far from there.Cedric will be hosting again this year and they will be doing a tribute to Don Cornelius and Whitney Houston and there will be a surprise celebrity guest and when I asked who, he started smiling, side eye’d me and guzzled down a bottle water, he is a mess! I will be attending the Soul Train Awards at Planet Hollywood on November 8th, so stay tuned for all the pics and scoop! Thanks Cedric for always being such a sweet and fun person to interview! xoxo

I’ve always been a huge Cedrick fan! He is so funny and cute to me! Love learning that he is educated and also worked in corporate before pursuing his true dream, that’s whats up.
