Derek Hough is embracing his most heart-melting role yet fatherhood. The dancer and entertainer recently opened up about life as a new dad, sharing how welcoming his daughter Everly has completely transformed his world.
From softly singing lullabies to cradling his baby girl while playing the piano, Derek revealed that each day brings a deeper level of love than he ever imagined. “I honestly couldn’t believe I could love anything more in my life,” he shared. “And yet every day I wake up and think, I love you even more today.”
He also praised his wife, calling her an “absolute warrior” and a natural mother, while joking that baby Everly seems almost too perfect sleeping well, smiling constantly, and already showing a little personality.
Music is already part of their daily routine. Derek says he often holds Everly while playing the piano and sings to her, and she even seems to react when he hits the wrong note a possible sign that a tiny musician might be in the making.
These days, the new dad admits his priorities have shifted. Even glamorous events like the Grammys don’t compete with time at home. In fact, he revealed that after getting fully dressed for the show, one sweet moment with his daughter convinced him to stay in. “I gave her a kiss, held her, and thought… yeah, I’m not going anywhere,” he laughed.
While fatherhood has made him more of a homebody, Derek is still hitting the road with his “Symphony of Dance Encore” tour, featuring a live band, dazzling costumes, and an incredible cast of dancers. And in true family fashion, his wife and baby Everly will be joining him on the tour bus.
For Derek, life right now is beautifully full: family, music, and a brand-new chapter that he says makes everything feel brighter, louder, and more meaningful than ever.
