TWT TEA: VH1 Moves Forward With ‘Sorority Sisters’ Reality Show, I’m Featured!

sorority Sisters

Meet April McRae owner of House of Couture Boutique who just so happens to be an AKA.  I interviewed her back in the summer time, we had a blast! Little did I know that I was interviewing April for a new reality show called, Sorority Sisters that will air this Monday on Vh1. I was out last night with friends when I started to get text messages that they saw me on the promo clip of the upcoming reality show!

TWT TEA: Back in the summer, I got an email from Vh1 asking me if I would be interested in doing an interview with a young lady who owned a fashion boutique here in Atlanta. I had never heard of her or her boutique but was interested in the project. They thought since I was a fashion blogger that I would be perfect for the job! I accepted, met April at a restaurant and conducted the interview. They did tell me that I was going to be filmed for a tv show but the producers gave me VERY little information about the show premise and what it was for, nor the title of it! Well, now it has been unveiled that it was for the controversial reality show that has Greeks up in a frenzy! This is the same reality show that has been on all the social media outlets, blogs an even got a petition signed with over 40,000 signatures. Now I’m sitting here like wow! That didn’t seem to bother Vh1 though as they have moved forward with this project and it’s allegedly produced by Mona Scott-Young who brought us all those Love & Hip Hop shows lawd! A lot of people are angered at the material that Mona puts out and it seems to have made her distance herself from the project and remove her name from the press release…interesting!

Disclaimer: I will say this, I am trying to further my career and in my line of work, when some opportunities arise, if its something that fits my brand, I will go for it! My role on the show was to simply interview April about fashion, her boutique and blog. I never mentioned anything about Greeks or Sororities. I never was trying to upset any Greeks out there. I got some random comments like last night but they are not “reading” correctly what my role was lol. Plus I’m also NOT Greek lol. Please do not get mad at me for simply doing my job because I have nothing to do with what Vh1 is putting out. I hope you guys kinda understand my position and READ carefully in what I stated above, that I pretty much had no further information to go on while on set. I would never blatantly disrespect any Greek organization in any way, shape or form. With that being said, watch the show if you like on Monday, at 9pm on Vh1 to see what it’s about, and why its so controversial. I’m a deer in the headlights just like you lol. Till next time! xoxo

sorority sisters

The Press Release: VH1 gives viewers a rare glimpse into the unique world of ATL Greek life with the series premiere of “Sorority Sisters”* on Monday, December 15 at 9:00 PM ET/PT. Nine women, who continue to honor the traditions and legacies of their respective sororities and chapters, all agree on one main principle: sisterhood doesn’t end after graduation, it’s for life. For these friends and sisters (or ‘sorors’) from celebrated historically black colleges and universities in Atlanta, strong ties to their organizations lead to fierce rivalries, but through thick and thin, these women stand united and share an unbreakable bond.

“Sorority Sisters” follows the lives of women from four different sororities. Since these ‘sorors’ are pledges for life, they are expected to continue their community work long after graduation. From long-awaited reunions, to managing the men in their lives, for these line sisters, it’s homecoming all across the ATL. These ladies have a lot at stake – their aspirations, reputations, livelihoods, friendships, and families – and the legacies of their sororities. “Sorority Sisters” premieres December 15 at 9PM on VH1.

“Sorority Sisters” is executive produced by Robert Horowitz for Juma Entertainment, and Toby Barraud, Stefan Springman, Mala Chapple and Jeff Grogan serve as executive producers for Eastern TV. Susan Levison, Nina L. Diaz, Vivian Gomez, Ken Martinez, and Daniel Blau Rogge are executive producers for VH1. << Funny they left Mona-Scott Young’s name off hmm?
