2nd Annual Sunday Power Brunch

Lillie and I

On Sunday I was invited out to “How to Pitch & Prepare Your Clients for Primetime News“. It was a great event and I learned a lot. Saptosa Foster and Kim Tuney were the hosts of the event held at The Social House. Don’t you love that you’re never too old or seasoned to learn something new? My assistant Pia really was impressed with the knowledge of all the speakers on how to pitch your clients to news stations and more.

JaQuitta, Kym, Keiona

Comedian Rodney Perry

  • Keiona Johnson(Cnn Assoc Editorial Prod
  • JaQuitta Williams(News Anchor,CBS Atlanta)
  • Kym France Wilson(Freelance Prod/11 Alive NBC)
  • Rodney Perry(Comedian/Co-Host The Monique Show)

These speakers gave insight on what they look for and what you need to know when you  have clients on their networks. Rodney talked about his trials and tribulations of being a struggling comedian and landing a job on The Monique show.

Publicist Saptosa Foster

The gave good key points to how to pitch story ideas and said you should have 3  key points. Why do I care about you? Who, What, Why. With tv producers/hosts it’s also key that you have likability, convenience, personality and lots of energy.

I know when I was on Comcast, there is nothing like interviewing a person who answers yes and thats it! It’s our worst nightmare! When someone asks you a question and your on “tv”, you never answer yes and that’s it..omg!

They also said, make sure you look professional when going in for an interview, hair is combed, neat appearance. You would be surprised how some come to the studio.Go with the flow of the interviewee, be prepared and relax.

For newbies in public relations, please look out for more events taking place throughout the year in Atlanta. They plan on doing more series of these events. Great job guys, I made some new friends and got some great contacts!
