Stars of Michael, Jaafar Jackson and Juliano Valdi, are giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the intense journey to bring Michael Jackson to life on screen.
Both actors revealed that the audition process for the highly anticipated biopic was anything but easy. Jaafar admitted the experience came with added pressure, especially given his family connection, but ultimately said it sharpened his focus and discipline. The process stretched over nearly two years before he even secured the role, followed by another year and a half dedicated to mastering Michael’s signature nuances and stage presence.
Despite the challenges, Jaafar shared that the lengthy process helped shape his performance, allowing him to step into the role with confidence by the time filming began.
Juliano, who plays a young Michael, echoed similar sentiments about the demanding auditions. While he was already familiar with Michael Jackson’s music and dance style, landing the role required him to study the Jackson 5 era more closely. He spent time watching archival footage and refining his moves to capture the youthful energy of the icon’s early years.
The two also spoke about the contrast in portraying different eras of Michael’s life, noting how distinct the choreography and energy are between his younger days and later performances. Juliano even treated the audience to a quick dance moment, showing off the moves he worked so hard to perfect earning big cheers in the process.
