A few months ago, in the heart of Atlanta at the AmericasMart Gift Show, I experienced a moment that felt straight out of a fairy tale.
By pure chance, I found myself waiting for a friend when a sign caught my eye announcing that Jim Shore would be doing meet & greets. I was completely spellbound. For years, I had admired the breathtaking artistry of Jim Shore especially the way he so beautifully captured my favorite princess, Princess Tiana. And yet, I had no idea he would be there… in the very same place as me!
Moments later, as if on cue, he stepped out of a room after a meeting dressed in his signature purple and there he was, standing right in front of me. I literally squealed with excitement! I hurried over to tell him how much I adored his work and how grateful I was for the loving, elegant way he brings Tiana to life.
He was so gracious and warm, sharing stories of his humble beginnings alongside his wife, how his company blossomed over the years, and the magical opportunity to collaborate with The Walt Disney Company to create so many treasured pieces. It felt less like a meet & greet and more like a divine appointment.
And then… as if the fairy tale wasn’t already perfect… the other day a package arrived at my door. Inside was an autographed Princess and the Frog Storybook sculpture the very one I had been admiring for quite some time. Omg!
Proof that sometimes when you wish upon a star… it truly wishes back.
