Celebrity Style: Clarissa Shield’s Turquoise Ensemble At Essence Fashion House

New York Fashion Week was serving serious style, and ESSENCE Fashion House was right in the middle of it! The highly anticipated event returned to NYC on Sunday, September 13, transforming Jean’s NYC into an exclusive fashion playground celebrating Black style, creativity, culture and influence.

This year’s theme, Common Thread,” was all about the connections that continue to shape Black fashion and culture. From the designers creating the looks to the artists, athletes and tastemakers bringing those looks to life, the evening celebrated the powerful influence of Black creativity from the runway to the streets.

The guest list was just as fabulous, bringing together some of the biggest names across fashion, music, entertainment and sports. Academy Award winner Daniel Kaluuya, Grammy-winning artist and actor Leon Thomas, rapper Coi Leray, designers Brandon Blackwood and Tia Adeola, jeweler Bernard James, WNBA champion Sydney Colson, and two-time Olympic gold medalist and undisputed boxing champion Claressa Shields were among the stars spotted inside.

The music lineup kept the energy high all evening. DJ and style icon Va$htie Kola got the celebration started before chart-topping rapper Flo Milli took the stage for a special performance. Mellow Domingo kept the party going well into the early morning hours, creating the perfect soundtrack for a night dedicated to Black women, fashion and culture.

And you already know I had my eye on the fashion!

Claressa Shields stepped out looking absolutely fabulous, bringing an elegant dose of drama to the celebration. The boxing champ wore a gorgeous turquoise tulle cape by Kat and Clarise, creating a dreamy, fashion-forward moment as she floated into the room.

Underneath, she paired the dramatic cape with the Everly dress by Retrofête, a stunning halter-neck gown featuring delicate lace detailing throughout. The open back and graceful tie closure added an alluring touch while keeping the overall look sophisticated and glamorous. Shown in a beautiful Sarcelle and Black combination, the gown was the perfect choice for a night celebrating fashion at this level.

Claressa attended the fashionable affair with her beau, Papoose, and together they made quite the stylish entrance.

ESSENCE Fashion House once again proved why it remains one of those must-see NYFW events. With incredible talent, show-stopping fashion, music and culture all under one roof, “Common Thread” was a beautiful reminder of how Black creativity continues to influence the world of fashion and beyond.
