Celebrity Style: Reese Witherspoon’s Pink Suit On GMA

Can you believe it’s been 25 years since Legally Blonde first hit theaters? Reese Witherspoon recently celebrated the beloved film’s milestone anniversary, reflecting on why Elle Woods remains one of pop culture’s most inspiring and fashionable icons.

During her appearance, Reese shared that Elle’s unwavering optimism, confidence, and underdog spirit continue to resonate with audiences decades later. She believes the character struck a chord because everyone, at some point, questions whether they belong, fit in, or deserve success. Over the years, fans have told Reese they pursued law school because of Elle Woods or even named their daughters after the iconic character, making the role one of the most meaningful of her career.

The anniversary celebration brought together several original cast members, including Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Victor Garber, and Jennifer Coolidge. Reese admitted the reunion was unexpectedly emotional, leaving her in tears as she reflected on the film’s lasting impact and the friendships audiences continue to cherish, particularly the beloved bond between Elle and Paulette.

Looking ahead, Reese is expanding the Legally Blonde universe with Elle, a new prequel series she is executive producing. Inspired by coming-of-age stories like Wednesday, the series will explore Elle Woods’ high school years and the experiences that shaped her into the ambitious, positive young woman fans know and love. The story will also spotlight the relationship between Elle and her mother, offering a fresh look at the influences behind her iconic confidence.

Luke Wilson even surprised Reese with a special video message, asking how she developed Elle’s signature voice and mannerisms. Reese revealed that she spent time observing fashionable women around Beverly Hills, studying everything from how they walked in designer heels to how they carried themselves while shopping. She wanted Elle to feel authentically Californian, creating the character’s now-famous voice, walk, and larger-than-life charm through careful observation and a bit of playful imagination.

When asked which qualities of Elle Woods she carried into her own life, Reese pointed to the character’s kindness, confidence, and support of other women. She shared that she was just 23 years old and the mother of a one-year-old daughter when she made the film, intentionally weaving messages about female empowerment, friendship, and self-worth into the story. Reese said she wanted young women to see a heroine who uplifts others, avoids tearing people down, and focuses on her own growth.

For the special occasion, Reese embraced the film’s signature color palette in an impeccably chic archival Chanel pink suit, proving that Elle Woods’ influence on fashion remains as timeless as ever. Elegant, polished, and undeniably feminine, the look was the perfect tribute to the character who taught a generation that being stylish and smart is always in fashion.
