Celebrity Style: Teyana Taylor’s Black Sheer Dress At The Rip Premiere In NYC

Teyana Taylor delivered pure fashion theater at The Rip premiere Tuesday night in New York City, stepping out in a striking Ashi Studio creation that blended intrigue, mystery, and avant-garde elegance. Styled by the dynamic duo Wayman Bannerman and Micah McDonald, Taylor chose a look straight from Ashi Studio’s Spring 2025 haute couture collection an unforgettable moment in sculptural dressing.

The sheer black design featured an exaggerated high neckline that dramatically veiled half of Taylor’s face, instantly commanding attention and elevating the look to cinematic proportions. Long sleeves and softly ruched, translucent fabric added an edge of sensuality, while the intentionally exaggerated hips introduced bold volume and architectural drama. The knee-grazing hem reinforced the couture silhouette, allowing the dress to feel both editorial and refined.

Minimal black strappy pointed-toe pumps grounded the statement-making ensemble, ensuring the focus remained on the artistry of the gown. Ashi’s Spring 2025 couture collection drew inspiration from the enigmatic world of Serge Lutens, channeling a balance of sensual materials velvet, Chantilly lace, and duchesse satin with cocoon-like shapes that whisper “look, but don’t touch.” The result is fashion that feels powerful, elevated, and unapologetically bold.

Starring Taylor alongside Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, The Rip follows a group of Miami cops whose discovery of millions in cash sparks suspicion and moral tension. The film premieres Friday on Netflix and if Taylor’s red carpet moment is any indication, drama is already in full effect.
