Christian Louboutin Talks About His Inspiration Behind The Red Soles

christian louboutin

French luxury shoe designer Christian Louboutin chats with CBS News about his shoe brand. He was always intrigued by fine arts, medieval, metals, spikes and embellishments. One day he saw a staff member painting her nails with a red bottle of nail polish and he picked it up and painted the bottom of his shoes and the rest is history!

I recently took my shoes in to get refinished because after only 3 wears or so, the red bottoms started to come off. You would think that after paying so much money for them, this would not happen but yes it did! They are also not the most comfortable shoes to wear either. I can stand them for about 1 hour thats it lol. I had my shoes repainted, padded with a rubber red sole and added a tap to the tip of my So Kates, it was pricey but worth it! It costs about $85 plus tax. I went to a shoe cobbler here in Buckhead and it’s called, Santana Creative they come highly recommended to repair all your Christian Louboutin heels. If you have damaged or need your designer heels repaired, this is a great place to check out. Inside watch Christian Louboutins talk about his inspiration behind the brand and Happy Friday everyone! xoxo

  1. Thank you for speaking honestly about these shoes and for showing us you mix your high and low fashions. Thanks for sharing tips for caring for them. Maintenance is always important.

Thank you for your honesty. Some folks would have you believe that a designer label makes them super comfortable.

On another note, when you’re working/attending an event what do you do to make your shoes last all evening. I always have flats but I try not to change until I’m leaving.

  2. TAMI!!! Thank you so much for posting this!!! I was about to send my “red bottoms” off to NY to get repaired because I had no clue who could repair them here!! I am so excited!!!!!! Thank you so much for the post.

  3. Hey Mell when Im working red carpets and have to stand on my feet for hours on end, I usually bring a long a pair of those roll up flats to save my feet! I have no bunions and dont want any so Im always thinking of my feet at the end of the day lol. I find high end and designer shoes the worse to wear but they are so cute so sometimes pain is beauty but for the most part, I do a red carpet and slide right in my flats that I carry all the time. I hope that helps!

  4. Thanks!

One day I’ll will get a super cute pair of top designer shoes and who knows maybe I’ll get to a red carpet too.
