In honor of Women’s History Month, the legendary Debbie Allen joins “The Jennifer Hudson Show” on Monday, March 9, to celebrate 25 years of the Debbie Allen Dance Academy and the powerful legacy she’s building. From inspiring young dancers to overcoming challenges along the way, Debbie reflects on a life and career driven by purpose. She also shares why staying present and helping others find their light continue to fuel her mission.
Debbie also shares the joy on becoming a Barbie, describing the honor of seeing a doll created in her likeness and sharing the impact it has on a new generation. She recounts the call from Mattel, her friends’ support including Denzel Washington and highlights the importance of representation. Debbie also chats about directing the pilot of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” meeting a young Will Smith, and her excitement about returning to Broadway to direct the star-studded cast of August Wilson’s “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone.”
