False Profits Debuts!

False Profits,God Don’t Like Ugly debut last night and it was a blast! Ed Hartwell starred in this musical, comedy, and drama stage play about a slick pastor by the name of Chris Gettins. He uses the church for his own personal gain. This playwrite was written and produced by Kevin and Shante Ragin. They did a great job with the characters and story line.

There were 12 scenes and each one was full of  fun, drama, mystery and excitement.i enjoyed watching the characters come to life. During intermission, I got to chat backstage with Shante and she said that this play was to show and teach others “that churches should not be all about how much money you have but about your heart”. She hoped that everyone got her message.

There were alot of twist and turns in the play, like the scene where we found out that Pastor Gettins had a gay son named, Jon Jon played by Jonathan Maxey. The church and his own family didn’t know about this and it was right under their nose. Jonathan did a fab job in the play.

Actor Jonathan Maxey, who played Jon Jon

He was a scene stealer with his gestures and dance moves and quick tongue lol. Pastor Gettins also fathered an illegitimate child with a women that he had been seeing for 5yrs and soo much more, drama!

Scene from play, Lil E.J.’s acting debut, awh!

Ed & actress Atalaya Martin-Wilson and Lil E.J.

The real show stopper came when little E.J. hit the stage! The Hartwell’s son played, Chris Gettins jr. and when he hit the stage the crowd went wild! He was the  child that pastor Chris Gettins fathered with Veronica played by, Atalaya Martin-Wilson . Veronica asked Chris jr(Lil E.J.), “where your daddy at?” Chris jr. then reached for Pastor Gettins and he picked him up. The church was in shock and so was the first lady, Lucinda Gettins, whoa!

The sassy Samantha Cassidy

There was also a special appearance by Samantha Cassidy. She played,Sister Emma and she was dressed to the nines throughout the play! Loved her pretty hats and shoes. She also sang. Actually there was alot of great music in the show and singers. Airport Band kept the crowd entertained.

The theatre was almost sold out and the crowd gave all the actors a standing ovation when the play ended. Lisa Hartwell came up to the stage and handed Ed some roses and everyone in the audience clapped and said, Awh!

Simply cute!

I also saw Sheree Whitfield came to the play and her fashionable sidekick Lawrence. I loved Sheree’s Christian Louboutin shoes!

Reality star,Sheree’s shoes,haute!

Ed’s mom came all the way from Las Vegas and other family and friends were their for support.Pink Suga was tired and I had my handy flip flops in tow because my feet was on fire! lol.

Afterwards we had our own lil after party at Taco Mac in downtown Atlanta. We laughed and talked about the play and what scenes we enjoyed. I really had a great time and I want to thank the Hartwells and the Ragins for inviting me out! The Ragins do plan on taking the show on the road, so look out for that soon!
