I really, really love chatting on Instagram, its like the best thing ever since I have cooled my heels a bit on Twitter. I’m still on there but not as much. I like Instagram because you don’t have to say much and you can just post pretty pics and people like them and that’s about it! I asked my instagram followers if there was anything they wanted to know about me and if so, I would answer back on my blog. So peek inside to see how I responded to them. I love my followers, they are so fun! If you are a blogger, this is a cool way to get to know your followers and vice versa. Happy Monday!

@_tar37_ askHello, you look great…but why did you lose so much weight? That is such a weird observation to me because to be honest, I only lost about 5 lbs lol. EVERY summer I lose a lot of water weight because it’s so hot here in the south and I lose my appetite. I only like to eat fruits, veggies and salads all summer long. Anything heavy makes me physically sick. Its so hot and humid here, I rarely can eat anything, don’t know why. I think that is a good thing but all my clothes still fit the same. Trust me I am not on a diet, I LOVE to eat but by winter time, you will see that 5 lbs return!

@_itsbobbiesworld ask…Do you ever get writers block? What are your top 3 must have beauty products? You’re fashionably fabulous with that said who is your favorite designer? Why yes I get writers block quite often but then I can watch something on tv or read a magazine and that can give me ideas on things to write for the blog. Top 3 beauty items would be Clinique moisturizer, baby wipes and ruby woo M.A.C. lipstick. Besides Betsey Johnson, Valentino is my favorite designer.

@itskristylove askHow did you get your start? What’s the best/worst part of what you do? Who do you admire and why? To make a long story short…I got my start in 2005 when my family moved to Atlanta. I launched a cable access tv show and did that for a few years and then blogging came around and I transitioned over to that. When I launched TalkingWithTami.com the Atlanta Housewives had just started too and that brought a lot of traffic to my site and put me on the map! I had lots of exclusive pics and interviews with the ladies and that’s pretty much how it all happened in a nutshell.

Worst part of what I do is a lot of assumption that goes along with blogging! People take what I say too damn serious. Everytime I wake up in the morning and start blogging, I’m writing my thoughts out most of the time in a joking way. Once something is out in the atmosphere people take it so personal. You guys know that blogs are a form of entertainment right? Its a business too lol. Then I have to read all the hate emails etc and they don’t even know me. People swear they know me because of my online presence when there is so many other facets to me and my life lol. You just see a small portion of me and what I do. That can be annoying!

Then we have the catty bloggers omg! Don’t let me get started! Some bloggers “shade me” because they feel intimidated or threatened for some odd reason. One example is that they won’t share my contact information or blog with potential brands because they are afraid that if they do, they won’t work with them anymore. Or they may have heard some type of rumor about me without ever meeting me personally. I’ve heard and seen it all but it doesn’t bother me one bit and I just keep it moving! I have VERY tough skin and after growing up like I did, chile bye! Blogging can be extremely catty, I tell yah! I’ve always said, what’s for you is for you, what’s for me is for me! I still share and recommend other bloggers for projects etc but rarely do they return the favor.

I admire people like Michelle Obama, Anna Wintour and Oprah Winfrey ofcourse. All of them are hard working ladies. I LOVE to see women in powerful positions doing great things. We need more role models for our youth for sure and especially girls. When I was growing up, I didn’t have a lot of great role models and I always wanted a mentor but they were not readily available in my city. That’s why I am careful with what I put out because I know that my daughter along with other young people are reading and watching what I do. I want my daughter to be proud of me, so I try my hardest to lead by example.

@sir sterling ask…What inspires that amazing fashion sense of yours? Between my mom and my god mother, I learned a lot about fashion early on. My mom has VERY expensive taste and introduced me to luxury brands at an early age while my god mom was very thrifty and knew how to look chic but on a budget. Both ladies inspired me. My god mom would take me to thrift stores and show me how to look for quality fabrics and well made garments. I eventually learned the craft and started mixing high and low end looks together. I’m also inspired by celebrities and what they wear or what’s hot off the runway or in fashion magazines.

@hairdos askHow tall are you? I’m only 5’5 but I swear I’m shrinking! My 14 year old son is towering over me now yikes!

@newsjunkie askfavorite brand of shape wear? My favorite brand of shape wear is by Spanx! I live in the Slim Cognito High-Waisted Mid-Thigh Spanx. I don’t care how big or small you are, EVERY lady needs some type of shape wear underneath their garments!

@lacesinc_1 ask…How do I find the balance between traveling, career and home life? It has become very easy for me to travel now because my kids are teens. My daughter is practically grown and I have a great neighbor that lives really close by that looks after my kids when I do have to travel. My husband is not home that much either because of his job but we still tag team and do what needs to be done. I have a great system that I go by and I’m pretty well organized, so I plan everything out daily and by me working from home, its pretty easy to multi-task and get things done around the house too. I don’t make home cooked meals like I use to but I’m slowly getting back in the swing of things lol.

@got2luv_me_bb askDo you experience barriers in your line of work? If so, can you list them? I experience barriers everyday that can be very frustrating but I say a prayer and just stay focused. I can say that if you ask anyone about me they might mention that I am pretty focused.

If I was 15 years younger, I think I would get more opportunities. I am a female, minority, plus size and middle aged, its not that many brands that want to work with me, regardless of how much traffic my site gets. I have seen brands time and time again work with Caucasian bloggers with little to no traffic/followers instead of me because they are their target audience. When in all actuality, African American women are the biggest consumers, go figure! Smh!

@xoashtonnicole askWhat is your advice to aspiring bloggers/vloggers? Be consistent, be diligent, have integrity, learn the craft and at the end of the day, know why you are blogging! What are you blogging for? Are you blogging just to get free stuff, get in events, free travel etc? These can be the wrong reasons when blogging takes a lot of hard work and dedication! Most bloggers/vloggers fall off within 90 days! It’s not for the weak! xoxo
