Iyanla Vanzant Talks About Her Interview With Jada Pinkett Smith

On the Tuesday, November 14 edition of “Tamron Hall,” the incomparable Iyanla Vanzant opened up about the recent loss of her youngest daughter, Nisa. The award-winning multihyphenate shared how she learned to grieve Nisa through the loss of Gemmia, her older daughter who passed away 20 years ago, and detailed the special relationship she had with her late daughters. Iyanla also touched on her recent interview with Jada Pinkett Smith on “The R Spot” podcast in the wake of headlines surrounding Jada’s marriage to Will Smith. See more inside with video clip…

Iyanla on overcoming the grief from the loss of her daughters Nisa and Gemmia:

“I survived that [loss of Gemmia] and I’ll survive this [loss of Nisa].” She continued, “So I have a big life. I have a big place in the world. I have a big assignment…To facilitate the evolution of human consciousness – one mind, one heart, one life, one spirit at a time. That is my assignment.”

Iyanla on giving Jada Pinkett Smith a place to heal during her recent interview on “The R Spot”:

“I didn’t get into the story. Her relationship is none of my business. My business was her healing. And we get into the story with our opinions not realizing that’s how we tear each other down…I was looking at the healing. Her story, her marriage, her whatever, you know, that’s her business. We gotta learn how to mind our business. Mind your business.” She added, “We love drama. We just love it. Everybody just need to get an Emmy and hang it around their neck, so that we can stop the drama. But, here’s what people don’t know, that’s the trick of the ego to keep you out of evolving. To keep you from awakening. You get caught in the minutia of the details and totally miss the lesson and the next thing you know, you married the same fool all over again.”
