Ja Rule Talks Viral $100 Million Deal, Nelly & Ashanti Reunion

On today’s “Tamron Hall,” multi-platinum artist and rapper Ja Rule joined the show for a daytime exclusive interview, discussing his side of the story on his much anticipated return to music and his new record deal. Ja Rule also shared his take on fellow artists and friends Ashanti and Nelly’s romantic rekindling. Later, Samantha Diaz aka Just Sam opened up about their return to busking following their “American Idol” win, and announced their partnership with Ja Rule. The Tam Fam was also treated to live performances by both Ja Rule and Just Sam.  See more inside….

Ja Rule responds to not being included on Billboard’s list of “50 Greatest Rappers”:

“I’m not a hater. Congrats to everyone on the list. These lists, they’re meaningless because music is subjective. You like who you want to like, you know everybody has their favorite artist. But my thing is, because this is a list comprised by Billboard. They do numbers and statistics, if I’m not mistaken. That list is impossible to make without Ja Rule being on it – statistically impossible. There’s artists that don’t have number one records, don’t have number one albums. I’m not knocking anybody because, like I said, music is subjective. And when it comes to some of the older artists, you kind of got to go by different metrics.”

Ja Rule on Ashanti and Nelly’s reunion:

“You can tell sometimes when, you know, women – they want that old thing back. I don’t want to blow sis up! But the chemistry was there. And I think for both of them, you know, it came back quick. So I think they missed each other. It had to be that way because the way they just clicked and came back so fast.”

Ja Rule on his upcoming tour:

“People have seen me perform plenty of times but not like this. This show I’m doing with full production. You know, I got mountains and fire. I got suns and moons and floating stages. So yeah, I wanted to do this one a little bit differently. I said I wanted to celebrate this with my fans and so we gonna have a good time.”

Ja Rule on working with “American Idol” winner Just Sam:

“[They’re] immensely talented. You know, unfortunately, this is a very tough business. There’s a lot of talent sitting on a shelf. You know, I was just talking to my guys in the back, you drive down, you know, Skid Row in LA, there’s probably future Oscar winners and Grammy winners laying on the ground. And so there’s talent everywhere and it’s just like I’m in a position where I can pay it forward.”
