Jordyn Woods Talks Lucky Knicks Bag, Karl-Anthony Towns

Fresh off the New York Knicks’ historic NBA Championship victory, Jordyn Woods stopped by TODAY with Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones, bringing along the now-famous handbag that many fans have dubbed the team’s ultimate good-luck charm.

The entrepreneur and fiancée of Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns opened up about how a custom bag she created for her brand, Woods by Jordyn, unexpectedly became one of the biggest playoff storylines of the season.

“I made the sample for the playoffs and started carrying it when we won a game,” Woods explained. “It became a superstition for me.” The bag’s legend only grew when she was unable to bring it to a game and the Knicks suffered their first loss in nearly two months. Almost instantly, social media crowned the accessory a championship talisman.

Although the internet may want the bag courtside next season, Woods joked that it’s officially earned retirement. After accompanying the team to the championship parade, she plans to “hang it in the rafters” and give it a well-deserved vacation. When the hosts suggested Disney World or Cabo as possible destinations, Woods laughed that both sounded like worthy options.

Beyond the viral fashion moment, Woods shared an emotional glimpse into what the championship journey meant for her personally. Having been together for six years, she said watching Towns achieve his lifelong dream felt like a victory they both shared.

“When you’re with someone, their dream becomes yours,” she said. “Seeing how hard he’s worked, everything he’s overcome, and the adversity he’s faced it felt like such a win for me, too.”

Woods also reflected on the bond she and Towns share through the loss of a parent. She lost her father at 19, while Towns lost his mother at 24, creating a connection rooted in resilience, faith, and perseverance. Throughout the Finals, the couple honored their loved ones by stepping outside at sunset each day to pray and speak to their parents, a ritual Woods believes gave Towns strength throughout the championship run.

The newly engaged couple is also beginning to think about wedding plans, though Woods admitted the celebration of an NBA title has understandably taken center stage for now.

While Knicks fans are celebrating a championship, Woods believes the team’s impact extends far beyond basketball. She spoke about the hope and joy the season brought to New Yorkers, noting that sports have a unique way of bringing people together during difficult times.

“It’s so much bigger than basketball,” she said. “It’s the hope, the feeling, the memories people share with their families. That’s what makes moments like this so special.”

From a viral handbag to a championship parade and wedding plans on the horizon, Woods is enjoying every moment of what has become an unforgettable season for both her family and the city of New York.
