Kandi Burruss Opens Up About Leaving The Real Housewives Of Atlanta On Tamron Hall

On the Thursday, February 29 edition of “Tamron Hall,” Kandi Burruss spilled the tea on her decision to leave Bravo’s hit reality series “Real Housewives of Atlanta” after 14 years. The reality star detailed her experience and what led her to walk away from the franchise, teasing a future project on the network. Kandi also commented on the “Reality Reckoning” led by former “Real Housewives of New York” cast member Bethenny Frankel and the recent allegations against the network, ultimately stating: “Nobody is making you do anything.” See more inside…

Kandi Burruss on her decision to leave “Real Housewives of Atlanta”:
“So everybody knows that this year they [Bravo] took a few extra months between the seasons to figure out what they wanted to do with the cast…And so during that time – people know I work all the time anyway – but, I had some other movie opportunities, a lot of other things that were happening that I can’t even talk about. And I was just excited about being able to spend more time with my family, [and] working and not being stressed and having to argue and go back and forth with people.” She continued, “I was really kind of over it, but I just kind of feel like, during this break, I was doing all of these things and then as it was time to stop [filming] and start having those conversations [to return], somebody said to me, ‘Why do you keep doing this?’ and I was like, really just because I feel like it’s habit at this point. I was kind of just like in the routine of doing it so it was just like this is what I do.” She concluded, “It just really came to the point where, for the last few years, I had been trying to figure it out, but this year, I just said, you know what? I’m going to take that leap of faith and just see if I can have this time off, [do] all the things that I can make happen, because there are some really big opportunities that I had to pass up on because I was doing the show. And I’m like, if I’m not doing the show this year, let me see how it can work and still have a happy, peaceful life.”

Kandi Burruss on how she feels about the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” reunions:
“The reunions I hate. Everybody knows I hate the reunions. They’re so stressful and I know I’m going to be going back and forth with people the whole time and then if people are like lying to my face, it just makes me explode.”

Kandi Burruss on her “Real Housewives of Atlanta” salary and her future collaboration with Bravo:
“It’s a pretty hefty coin what I was making, everybody knows.” She continued, “We’re still doing some things together outside of the show, so I’m still a part of the Bravo family, things that we haven’t announced. We’re still going to do things together.”

Kandi Burruss on the “Reality Reckoning” led by former Bravo cast members, sparking headlines about the network:
“What I really have to say is – you know I don’t want to get too involved in their legal matters or whatever, but I have had and I hope to continue to have a good relationship with the network. And the reason why I can vouch for how I feel: I’ve been on that show for 14 years, and nobody can make me do anything. So, people know I don’t do drugs, I’ve never been drunk in my life, and yes, I mean, some people ask for a little wine or a drink or whatever because that’s what they like – they like to have wine, they like to have drinks, you know because some people that’s what they do when they want to have fun…Do I have drinks? No. So, the same way that I have a choice, they have a choice too. Nobody is making you do anything.”
