See quotes and clip below…

Sherri: So, tell me this, when you go out .. do people call you Larenz or are you Councilman Tate?

Larenz Tate: I’m Councilman Tate. We’re both from Chicago, right? So, we recently just got a new mayor, and I was at the inauguration. When I tell you everybody, [it was like 2000 people] everybody who I spoke to, “Hey, Councilman Tate”- the whole time, and they are addressing me as if I’m really a politician.

Sherri: Did they think you were going to speak?

Larenz Tate: They thought I was going to get up there and give my speech. They thought I was going to try and knock the new mayor out of the way [laughs]. Do some devious stuff. I’m like – no – I’m Larenz. But for me, I see it as a compliment.
