Mad Men Style

I’ve been getting a lot of emails and people walking up to me asking, have I seen Mad Men on Amc. I did watch the show one time but it was just too unbearable for me. It takes place in the 60’s and well, minorities weren’t treated so hot back then. So let’s just say, I was turned off when I saw how they spoke to a black person in one of their episodes. That’s how it was back then and I don’t care to relive that portion of time.

I have been seeing the show get great reviews/awards on their costumes though. Janie Bryant is the costume designer for the show and she does a great job! She was recently interviewed by Glamour magazine and they asked her:

What are your favorite vintage spots in New York and Los Angeles?

JB: “I love this store called Playclothes in L.A., and I love the owners…her name is Wanda, and she’s southern, like I am and they are just the greatest people in that place. And through my nine and a half years in New York, my best pieces that I still have were from the Salvation Army on 46th between 11th and 12th. Three times a year they have a fur and leather sale and you can get the most amazing things. Those are definitely my best vintage finds”.

I’ve been looking at some of these period clothing and I must say Janie does a fab job! She is truly talented and I wish her must success. I might try to check out the show one more time, just maybe.
