Meagan Good Honored By The Black Excellence Brunch & Warner Bros

The iconic Black Excellence Brunch was held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, and was sponsored by Warner Bros and Dark & Lovely.  The brunch was held at The Gathering Spot LA to honor veteran Hollywood actress, Meagan Good for her role in the upcoming DC Comics movie, Shazam! The Black Excellence Brunch is one of the most anticipated and exclusive brunches in Los Angeles that brings together an inspiring room of entertainment executives and creatives. The private brunch included amazing vibes, mimosas, thematic cocktails, delicious brunch food, an electrifying conversation with Meagan Good, and a celebration of excellence.

 

Attendees included Skyh Black, KJ Smith, Sierra Capri, Rel Howery, Claire Sulmers, Crystal Renee Hayslett, Ashley Everett, Shoniqua Shandai, other entertainment influencers and executives. The Black Excellence Brunch is an event series that is based on the family tradition of “Sunday Dinner”. It is an event series that brings together millennials of color from all industries and professions in an effort to build real community over what can be considered the favorite millennial pastime, “brunch.”

As guests arrived at the Black Excellence Brunch they were greeted with signature cocktails, champagne, and a southern-style brunch that included shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, collard greens, bacon, impossible sausage, eggs, and fruit. Guests also enjoyed music, networking, meeting new friends and reconnecting with old friends.  Entertainment host/journalist, Gia Peppers emceed the afternoon brunch, and led a fireside chat with Meagan Good.  The inspiring conversation took guests on a journey through Meagan’s pivotal career moments.

Founded by Trell Thomas, the Black Excellence Brunch is an empowering event series established to connect young people of color from all walks of life. While being a South Carolina native, Thomas modeled the event after his childhood in the south to embody the tradition of Sunday Dinners. After years of celebrating black culture in Los Angeles, California, he intentionally chose Oscar’s weekend to host the iconic brunch at Black-owned venue and the top minority co-working space, the Gathering Spot LA.

“I wanted to do something special during Oscar weekend. I wanted to honor our black superheroes when It comes to TV and film. I think there was no better time to honor someone like Meagan than Oscar weekend because of her long standing career, talent and contributions to movies that have left a lasting impression on us all!”
