My New Living Room Space

Hey guys, I’m so excited to share my new living room space. It’s been a long time coming and with the pandemic and people staying home more, I thought that I would spruce up my space. I was extremely bored with the way everything was looking and I wanted to feel excited to come home and see something new! It started back when I went through my divorce.

I kept walking around my place feeling very sad and thinking of old memories etc. I wanted a fresh start and new beginnings. I started by writing down a game plan, journaling things I wanted and tossing out or donating items. I then started putting looks together on Pinterest.

After writing down my vision, I knew that I wanted to keep the same neutral tones as before but just with modernized items and a lil more sparkle. I have a friend who has an amazing house and she had this fabulous velvet couch set sitting in a den. I would always joke with her and say, “if you EVER get rid of that couch, please call me”. I loved it from the first time I set eyes on it. It was made well, had good character and had good bones. Plus it fit my aesthetic.

So sure enough four years later, she called me and said, I’m selling it and I leaped at the opportunity! I had it delivered, cleaned and that was the beginning of me starting my decorating journey. I live in an apartment, so I didn’t want to go all out and although I love where I live, I just want to wait to see if I will purchase property next year, we shall see. In the meantime, If I am going to be here, I wanted it to look nice and inviting.

I’m ALL about simplicity, peace, joy, comfort and tranquility. I kept that in mind when trying to put this interior look together. I have PLENTY of friends in the interior decorating business but most moved away, sigh! I did reach out and sent them images of my space and they all gave me their professional advice. I also wanted my space to be functional because I do have a very active grandson that’s a toddler lol!

My bestie told me that I had a lot of “bonus-free pieces” in my place. I don’t know how long you guys have been avid readers but if you remember, my first home was featured on HGTV on a tv show called, “Deserving Design”. I only kept a few things from that townhouse but I did incorporate some stuff into this place. Most items they used for the show were from Z Gallery, Arhaus, and Ikea.

So this is the outcome of my place, I love how it turned out and I’m still adding things daily. I am looking for a wrought iron bookcase, sconces and a shabby chic/distressed console. I’ve been searching high and low at local antique stores in my area for the perfect piece! I really love antique stores, it’s so my style. I will update you if I find something lol. But for now, I am pleased and it’s my lil sanctuary and I feel comfortable and at peace. Have a blessed day and stay well! xoxo

It’s not how big the house is, it’s how happy the home is.
