Last Saturday night, I was invited out to cover the Martell Cognac 300th year celebration with their Vanguard Series tour, as their official social media correspondent. It was an “invite only” private affair held at The Opera in Midtown Atlanta. It was on and popping as we made our way to this popular night spot where lots of young people like to hang out, party, dance and get their drink on! As I arrived, the crowd was already forming a long line patiently awaiting to get in because our special guest dj for the night was non-other than band member/drummer Questlove from the group The Roots! For weeks people had heard about this major event and it had created quite the buzz in the city…
Before the party got started, we were treated to a VIP tasting of the popular Cognac. I’m not much of a drinker I must admit and it was a bit too strong for my tastebuds but for those of you that do drink, I give it too yah lol. They gave us the rundown on the brand, how they age the liquor and more. Quite interesting and Martell has been around since 1715 and it was the very first liquor to hit the market. We sipped on Martell VSOP & Martell Codon Blue.
Questlove then came out and introduced himself and talked about his fond memories of working in the music industry, travel, art, culinary, collaborating with Martell and more. He has a cooking show coming out soon and will host a few “food salons” with chefs and also will be working on Broadway with a musical called, Hamlet. He was so well versed and was so cute to chat with. I loved that he is so personable as well. He told me that he loves to frequent a few sushi spots while here in town. I had no clue that The Roots started Jill Scott’s career, that was great to know.
Kiwi/Kiwi The Beauty and I were the official social media correspondents, fun times!
The drinks kept flowing all night in VIP, yikes!
Me and my buddy Ursula had a blast. Cheers to friendship!
I had a nice experience at the Vanguard Series event I learned a lot, I partied and most of all I got to hang out with friends, sip on a few cocktails and let my hair down. Thanks so much for the experience Martell and check out the website to see what city Martell Vanguard Series will be heading to next! Here’s to 300 more years…Cheers! xoxo
