Atlanta Life Insurance Company’s Our Golden Future reception was hosted in Atlanta yesterday by Earvin “Magic” Johnson and company executives, and attended by celebrities, local business leaders, and elected officials, such as Atlanta mayor Andre Dickens, Ludacris, Jermaine Dupri, Kandi Burruss, Cynthia Bailey, NeNe Leakes, Big Tigger, and more.
The Our Golden Future reception was a celebration of the reintroduction of Atlanta Life Insurance Company, the historic, lone-remaining Black-founded and owned life insurance company. Atlanta Life has deep roots in the city, as it was founded by Alonzo Herndon, a formerly enslaved man who is known as a successful businessman and Atlanta’s first Black millionaire.
Now, more than 100 years later, the company is reemerging under new leadership — including a partnership agreement with Earvin “Magic” Johnson’s EquiTrust Life Insurance Company — and a new vision that pays homage to its original founder.
