Red Carpet Rundown: ‘Emancipation’ World Premiere In Los Angeles

On Wednesday, November 30th, Actor Will Smith and family Trey Smith, Willow Smith, Jaden Smith, and wife Jada Pinkett Smith attended Apple Original Films world premiere of Emancipation at the Regency Village Theatre. Some of the cast was also in attendance.

The movie is inspired by a true story where a man called, Peter (Will) who fights through unthinkable terrors in an attempt to reunite with family. Emancipation premieres in theaters on December 2 and globally on Apple TV+ on December 9, 2022. See who all hit up the black carpet premiere inside….

“Emancipation” to premiere in theaters on December 2, and globally on Apple TV+ on December 9

“Emancipation” tells the triumphant story of Peter (Will Smith), a man who escapes from slavery, relying on his wits, unwavering faith and deep love for his family to evade cold-blooded hunters and the unforgiving swamps of Louisiana on his quest for freedom. The film is inspired by the 1863 photos of “Whipped Peter,” taken during a Union Army medical examination, that first appeared in Harper’s Weekly. One image, known as “The Scourged Back,” which shows Peter’s bare back mutilated by a whipping delivered by his enslavers, ultimately contributed to growing public opposition to slavery.
