Tessa Thompson stopped by Sherri and delivered pure entertainment while dishing on her undeniable on-screen chemistry with Michael B. Jordan. According to Tessa, part of what makes their dynamic so interesting is that their characters are a married couple… while both actors are very much unmarried. The twist? They still play it like an old, seasoned married pair and to get it right, they even went to marriage therapy for their roles. Yes, therapy. Tessa joked that the experience taught her one important lesson: everyone needs therapy maybe even sooner than later.
She shared that working through long-term relationship dynamics, family connections, and those conversations you don’t always get to have made the process meaningful. And when it comes to Michael B. Jordan? She had nothing but praise, calling him “a delight.” In fact, she admitted he’s annoyingly… not annoying at all. Turns out, he’s exactly as wonderful as he seems.
However, she did confess to one tiny gripe: Michael is a big FaceTimer and he doesn’t give a warning. Tessa joked that he’ll call at the most random moments, catching her completely unprepared. Sometimes she lets the call ring just long enough to pull herself together before answering. Relatable.
She also revealed that most of her male friends love FaceTime, including fellow actor Colman Domingo, who apparently does it all the time. Case in point: on the morning of the Golden Globes, Tessa was relaxing in the bathtub when Colman FaceTimed her to ask what she was wearing on the red carpet. Not only that he likes to approve her outfits. Bath or not, he’s checking in.
