Zoe Saldaña opened up about her Oscar win and the whirlwind that followed, describing it as a surreal experience: “Everything started to feel like a blur. It’s been such a beautiful journey, and honestly, I don’t think I was there as my current self; it felt like my 13-year-old self showed up and lived that moment.”
She also shared a lighthearted moment at home, recounting how her sons reacted to the big night. “To them, it was like watching a soccer tournament, and all building up to this big finale,” she laughed. “And then my youngest, who’s a bit more competitive than the others, asked me, ‘But this was for supporting actress, right?’”
Saldaña also spoke about stepping into the world of animation with Pixar’s upcoming film Elio. Reflecting on the shift from physical acting to voice work, she said, “It’s amazing, I get to show up in sweatpants, no makeup, and just bring a character to life with my voice. You really don’t know how it’ll turn out, so it’s a leap of faith.”
She praised the creative team behind the project: “What makes it even more special is that the directors, Maddie and Domee, are both women, and in a male-dominated space like animation, I’m incredibly proud of them.”
Adding a personal touch, Zoe shared, “I even got to bring my boys to a couple of the recording sessions; it was such a special experience for all of us.”More inside….
