Tv Personality and three-time Emmy-winning journalist Gayle King is a cover girl! She graces the cover of Sports Illustrated for their 60th Anniversary Swimsuit Issue. King who is 69-years-old told People magazine that she thought she was being “punked” when she got the offer.
“It wasn’t something I dreamed about,” King tells PEOPLE of the honor, “but it was one of the highlights of all the things I’ve done because I never thought this would be possible.” The shoot took place in Mexico for the 2024 SI Swimsuit issue. Gayle along with Hunter McGrady and Crissy Teigen were each honored in this issue. The were all selected because they are very influential.
Gayle King was born on December 28, 1954, in Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA. She started her career as a production assistant at a Baltimore TV station and later worked as a news anchor in Kansas City and Hartford. She joined WFSB in Hartford in 1981 and worked there until 1991.

Gayle King is best known for her long-time friendship with media mogul Oprah Winfrey. The two met while working at a Baltimore TV station in the 1970s and have remained close ever since. Gayle King joined CBS News in 2011 as a co-anchor of “CBS This Morning” and is also an editor-at-large for O, The Oprah Magazine. She has interviewed numerous high-profile figures, including Michelle Obama, Meghan Markle, and R. Kelly.

King has authored several books, including “Note to Self: Inspiring Words from Inspiring People” and “Are We There Yet?,” which is a collection of essays about motherhood. She was married to attorney William Bumpus from 1982 to 1993, and they have two children together, Kirby and William Bumpus Jr.

Gayle King is involved in various philanthropic endeavors, including work with the Robin Hood Foundation, an organization dedicated to fighting poverty in New York City.
