Sherri: Why the title of LESLIE F*CKING JONES?
Leslie: ‘Cause I’ve been doing this so, so long and when anybody sees me or anybody meets me, they’d be like, “Oh man, Leslie F*cking Jones.” It’s always that! What other title could it be?! You know, I didn’t use my last name. I used to just go by Leslie … for years… I was trying to be like Madonna or Whoopi Goldberg.
And a booker was like, “… What is your last name? … And I said, “I want to be like Madonna and Whoopi. He said, “Whoopi’s last name is Goldberg. Madonna … Bitch, please!”
He was like, “What is your last name?” I said, “Jones” and he said, “Leslie Jones – that’s a famous name” – and I’ve been using it ever since.
