Lizzo talks about being nervous to perform on Saturday Night Live, thinking one of Seth’s writers was Paul Rudd and the time she sent flowers to Seth’s dad to apologize for calling him a bitch.
During another appearance on On Purpose with Jay Shetty on Monday, April 7, Lizzo opened up about her journey of “releasing weight” and how her boyfriend helped shift her perspective.
“My man, he’s hilarious. He was actually the first one to point it out to me. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I lost five pounds,’ and he goes, ‘Where did it go?’” the 36-year-old singer shared.
Lizzo admitted she was initially upset by the comment, saying, “I was mad, like, ‘Why would he say that?’ But he kept asking, ‘Where did it go?’” That question made her reflect more deeply. She eventually realized she didn’t want to focus on losing — she wanted to focus on gaining and growing.
“I want to be very intentional with my words, especially because there are young people watching me,” said the About Damn Time singer. “They’re taking in what I put out into the world and applying it to their own lives, just like I did when I was younger.” I also loved that black dress Lizzo was wearing, very sexy!
