I remember meeting Chris Brown a few years ago while I was out in Los Angeles covering the NAACP Image Awards. It was 2006. Randy Jackson and I was sharing some chicken wings out back in a tent when I heard someone trying to get my attention. Who was it? It was Chris Breezy!
He was trying to sneak in the NAACP Image Awards and was leaning over the fence asking me if he could borrow my media pass to get in lol. His mom was the look out, I was on the floor! He was very young though maybe not even 16 then, he was very cute but Randy said, hey we can’t do that! A lot has changed since then!
On the red carpet Robin got a few pics of him walking by but he would not stop or pose. But then…Robin and I had just finished shooting the red carpet for the BET Awards so we packed up and headed to our car. We still had our cameras wrapped around our necks, we were so tired! We instantly got turned around in some parking garage but noticed that security was escorting lots of celebrities in and out of this area where we were. Noone bothered us because we still had our BET credentials around our necks too. We turned the corner and who did we see! Yes, it was Chris Breezy and his huge entourage coming at us! I looked at Robin and we got to snapping lol. Before we knew it, these huge goons came toward us and put their hands in our way so that we could not get our shots!
I was pissed but starting screaming because we had never experienced anyone ever getting that close to us to say NO PHOTOS! You should have seen us yelling because the guys were huge! Chris noticed that it startled us and must have felt bad because he then posed for one picture but kept it moving. It was the funniest thing ever to see and experience! It was funny after we made it through that but it brought back memories to me where they said he is known to rough up fans or paparazzi trying to take pictures of him lol. I had totally forgot that he doesn’t like taking photos like that. He was still a sweetie though, it wasn’t him, it was his goons! Smh!
