Saying,”I Love You”

I was having a conversation over breakfast yesterday with my hubby Mr. Reed. We were playing around in the kitchen while he prepared a meal for me and my son lil Terrell. I looked at my hubby and I said those 3 words that he hears from me all the time, “I love you“.

He looked at me with no hesitation and said,” Love yah too” and gave me a big kissy. My son was sitting at the table, playing a video game and got all flustered lol. He loves to see us show affection, meanwhile will squeeze in between us anytime he can get to break us up lol.

Thats when I just randomly asked my hubby,”hey have you ever told the kids you loved them”? He looked at me and said,”they know”. I glanced at him and said,”Wow, you really have a problem with telling the kids that verbally”. He said,” well I show them everyday” lol. I got so mad at him and told him that they need to hear it from him and he argued that he plays with them and takes them places, lol.

It had never occurred to me that my hubby never said to our kids verbally, I LOVE YOU. That was so strange to me and here I’ve been with this guy for 12 years! Isn’t that strange how men think? Just when you think you really know a person then here comes another surprise. My hubby thinks when my son comes up to him and gives him a hug and kiss, it’s a sign of  weakness. He rubs our son’s head and pushes him down or roughs him up. He thinks that is showing him that he loves him.

So I said to him, “well do me a favor, I want you to tell lil Terrell you love him out loud today”. He got so mad and tried to avoid me by walking out the room. I followed him in the other room and said,”oh no buddy, you are going to do this today”! He has no problem telling me he loves me but he has a problem telling the kids, what in the world?

So after about 30 minutes of me drilling him and explaining to him about how important it was for the kids to hear him say it, he agreed, geesh! He walked into the room where our son was watching tv and started sweating and said, “I love you!” very uncomfortably.

My son looked up at him and me and said , I know ok, duh? lmao. I guess it’s a man thing  but it was a eye opener for me this day lol. My grandma and my mom never told me those 3 words ever. I would always tell my mom on the phone,” I love yah mom and she would say back, you too”! I’m going to work on her too lol.

I’m not going to leave this earth without my husband and my kids knowing the mama loves them dearly. Please reach out to your loved ones and tell them you love them today, I demand it! Have a great week you guys!
