Tyler Perry’s New Movie “Finding Joy”

Tyler Perry may be the king of comedy and heartwarming storytelling, but one thing he’s not a fan of? Halloween!

“I grew up in New Orleans, so you know, there’s voodoo and creepiness, so it’s always Halloween on Bourbon Street,” he joked. “I’m good, y’all can have that. No witches, gooblins, goblins, whatever I’m good.”

And when it comes to seeing people dress up as his iconic character Madea for the spooky holiday, Perry admits it’s a little too much for him. “Watching people dress up as Madea, that’s the scary stuff for Halloween,” he laughed. “I’ll see trick-or-treaters coming and their kids are Madea. I’m like, no, no, don’t do that!”

While he’s steering clear of haunted fun, Perry is embracing something much lighter with his upcoming film Finding Joy.

“I just wanted to do something light,” he shared. “So much heaviness is in the world. This is such a light, wonderful film.”

The movie follows a New York fashion designer who travels to Colorado expecting a romantic proposal only to find out her boyfriend wants her to be his best man! Heartbroken and caught in a snowstorm, she crosses paths with a stranger, and the two end up snowed in together in a cozy cabin.

“It’s romantic, it’s funny, it’s beautiful,” Perry said. “There’s so much heaviness let’s just have some light fun.” See more inside..
