Yung Miami On The Success & Controversy Of ‘Spend Dat’

Well, well, well! Yung Miami stopped by The Breakfast Club, and let’s just say she had plenty to get off her chest! The rapper and former City Girls star sat down with Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy, and Jess Hilarious for a revealing conversation about friendship, heartbreak, relationships, and finding her own voice in the music industry.

One of the most emotional moments came when Yung Miami discussed her falling out with longtime bestie and former groupmate JT. She compared their split to going through a divorce, admitting that losing that sisterhood felt like her very first heartbreak. She also reflected on how JT’s time in prison may have changed their friendship and ultimately their dynamic as the City Girls.

Now, ladies, we all know friendship breakups can sometimes hurt worse than romantic ones, especially when you’ve grown up together and shared so many milestones!

Yung Miami also opened up about her past relationship with Sean “Diddy” Combs, sharing what she learned from their time together and how he once made her feel appreciated and celebrated. She also pushed back against what she considers unfair narratives and false claims about her.

Of course, the conversation didn’t stop there!

The Miami native had a few things to say about the criticism surrounding her hit song “Spin That.” While some critics questioned the song’s messaging, Yung Miami viewed the record as a joyful moment in her solo career. She talked about seeing people dancing to it at weddings, graduations, and celebrations, explaining that she never intended for the song to encourage illegal behavior.

She also addressed comments from rapper Dee-1 and discussed actress LisaRaye McCoy, whose iconic role as Diamond in The Players Club helped inspire the song’s creative direction. Yung Miami explained that she has always admired LisaRaye and considers the film one of her favorites.

Tami’s Take: What stood out to me most was seeing Yung Miami speak so openly about navigating friendships, relationships, and public criticism while trying to establish herself as a solo artist. I always find it interesting when celebrities pull back the curtain and show us that behind the fabulous outfits, fame, and flashy lifestyles, they’re still dealing with real emotions and growing pains.

And one thing about Yung Miami, she’s definitely not afraid to speak her mind! Whether you agree with her or not, she made it clear that she’s ready to tell her own story, on her own terms.

What do you think about Yung Miami’s latest interview? Do you think she and JT will ever repair their friendship?
