Last night in LA, 90’s royalty came together to celebrate the return of our favorite late-night talk show sensation. On the eve of the highly anticipated premiere, Scene & Heard in partnership with Paramount+ hosted an exclusive preview of The Varnell Hill Show, featuring a private screening of the first episode and an intimate, candid conversation that gave attendees a behind-the-scenes look at the new series.

The night started with a “Late Night” reception that turned the theater into a full 90s television celebration with signature cocktails.

Following the screening, Emmy-nominated comedian, actor, and writer X Mayo effortlessly moderated a conversation featuring Martin Lawrence, followed by co-stars Tommy Davidson, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Chris Williams and Kym Whitley. The group reflected on bringing Varnell Hill back to the screen, the lasting cultural impact of Martin, and the incredible amount of love audiences still have for these characters more than 30 years later. More than just a Q&A, the session engaged the community and had them reflecting on the 30 years of this character and the lasting impact.
